Store the powder in a dry, well-ventilated area at low temperatures. Lycopodium is very sensitive to humidity, so ensure you close the packaging tightly after each use. Keep out of reach of children.
Preparation
Although Lycopodium is a natural and non-toxic product, the extremely small particles can be dangerous if inhaled in large quantities. We recommend wearing a face mask when handling the powder and preparing your tools. Lycopodium powder is not harmful to the environment and poses no threat to groundwater.
User manual
Lycopodium powder produces a lot of heat when burned. Ensure that your clothing and surrounding decorations are heat-resistant. The powder is very sensitive to air, so be careful in windy weather. If the wind changes direction, the flame changes direction with it!

Yes, ensure that you store it at room temperature in a sealed container. Lycopodium only burns when dispersed in the air (when it contains sufficient oxygen and is ignited by a fire source), so try to cause as little dust as possible when transferring and handling the powder. Keep the powder dry.
It is advisable to ask someone with experience to be present or, at the very least, to have a fire safety expert observe. The lycopodium fire effect is extremely hot: synthetic or very thin clothing can melt or catch fire. Therefore, wear clothing made of leather or natural fibers (e.g., cotton) of a suitable thickness. It is advisable to cover as much skin as possible and to wet your hair.
The powder is very sensitive to wind, causing the flame to swirl in all directions (always ensure the wind is at your back). Because the powder is very light and burns hot, it will always rise rapidly after ignition, so watch out for downward movements. Start with a small amount of powder to get used to it and see how it reacts, and build up from there.
Because lycopodium powder can always remain in your tool, never point the opening downwards, as this could cause lycopodium powder to escape and trigger a large flame. Hold the lycopodium tool horizontally and let it rest slowly on your fire blanket. Extinguish the fire on the tool by covering it with the fire blanket and pressing down firmly to cut off all air supply. Once you are certain that the tool is extinguished, remove the fire blanket.
Lycopodium is a dried plant seed and therefore a 100% natural powder. It is not electrically ignited and is not considered pyrotechnics. It is not harmful when stored behind the stage in a sealed container, out of the sun, and cannot spontaneously ignite. Any residue found on the stage can be picked up and disposed of in a waste bin or in nature.
Yes. Ensure that there are no flammable materials or decorations nearby, and especially not above you. Depending on the tools used, the flames can reach a height of up to 4 meters. It is advisable to turn off the ventilation, as this can cause unexpected air currents and thereby affect the flame behavior. Keep in mind that the flames may feel hotter indoors because there is less fresh air.
